EnergieKompass Salzburg: The key to sustainable heating

AktuellesEnergieKompass Salzburg: The key to sustainable heating

Can my property be supplied with a geothermal heat pump? Is there a district heating network in my area? Or is there a groundwater body that I can use for a groundwater heat pump? Many people in Salzburg ask themselves these questions when it comes to finding the right heating system for their property. With the support of the SIR, the province of Salzburg has therefore developed the EnergieKompass, a digital online compass for finding the right heating system.

What is the EnergyCompass?

The EnergyCompass is an innovative, digital tool that enables property and real estate owners to quickly and easily find out which heating systems are suitable for their building and which funding options are available. The central function is the heating check: it provides specific information tailored to the property on renewable energy sources, location suitability and possible implementation partners.

How does the heating check work?

The digital tool is easy to use: simply enter the address of your property and the app provides a comprehensive analysis of possible heating systems. The tool provides the following information:

  • Whether the property is suitable for certain systems: The tool checks suitability for geothermal energy or groundwater, for example, depending on the size of the property and site-specific conditions.
  • Whether district heating is available: This shows whether a district heating network is nearby and which network operator can be contacted.
  • What maps reveal about the location: The maps show existing infrastructure, potential resources and possible restrictions at the location.
  • What information about the heating systems is important: The available systems are evaluated in terms of cost, environmental friendliness and user comfort and explained in an understandable way.
  • Which subsidies are available: Current federal and state subsidy programs are displayed for the selected property.
  • Who can help with implementation: Regional contacts and implementation partners are suggested.
  • Which steps make sense next: A clear summary of the results and further links, for example to energy advice, make further planning easier.

This makes the heating check a simple way of comparing different heating systems and finding the best solution for each individual.

What data does the EnergyCompass use?

The EnergyCompass is based on a comprehensive database that has been built up since 2017. This data was originally collected for planning and supporting municipalities and advising them. This valuable knowledge is now being made available to citizens for the first time.

A particular advantage: apart from the address, no personal input is required. The EnergyCompass delivers precise results tailored to the property with just a small amount of easily available information – without any time-consuming data entry. In future, additional data can be added voluntarily in order to obtain even more precise evaluations.

What comes next?

The EnergyCompass is being continuously developed to provide even more targeted support for planning a sustainable energy supply.

The PV check, which shows whether a photovoltaic system on your own roof is worthwhile, is currently in progress. A renovation check is also planned, which will analyze the energy status of the building and identify suitable measures and funding opportunities.

The existing heating check will also be supplemented, including an installer:inside protocol, which replaces the previous heat pump atlas in SAGISonline and offers practical planning aids.
